EMDA – the Alzheimer’s Association of Israel
EMDA – the Alzheimer’s Association of Israel was founded in 1988 by family members of patients.
The association operates on a variety of levels and runs various activities to increase awareness of the disease and create an emotional and practical support system for the patient, the primary caregiver and his family members.
The association runs public awareness programs and launches public media campaigns about the disease and the importance of early diagnosis.
The association also holds a variety of conferences and seminars for professionals, with an emphasis on peripheral areas.
Other activities around the country include support groups for family members of patients, as well as various projects in the arts: use of music,
museum tours, as well as individual therapy, a national volunteer program for patients in their homes using the “Activity for Health” kit and more.
The association also works with decision makers to expand the basket of services and to promote the rights of patients and families and to encourage and promote the research on the disease.
The association operates a hotline and information center providing assistance, support and information to family members and professionals by telephone * 8889 (from a landline telephone)
as well as a web site containing a variety of information about the disease – from the country and from the world.
